Track of the Day: May 20, 2014

My favorite party tracks are the ones that still sound good three rooms down. You know what I’m talking about? When you hear walls rattle with rhythm and the closer you get to the source the more killer the rhythm sounds. This song by Bobbi Humphrey “Fun House” off the 1974 album of the same name, has just so much bounce from the great Mizell Brothers production duo (who also worked with jazz-funk great Donald Byrd). Listen to that baseline, OOF! it be DIRTY.

Just for this week, I’ll add a pseudo b-side for each pick. The A-Side stimulates the body, B-Side the mind/soul. Here’s a great B-Side from Ms. Humphrey “You Make Me Feel So Good”, perfect for when the party winds down:
