Mix: 50. When Tomorrow Comes

Once again, I’m back to my favorite kind of song: the love song. But not just any kind of love song. For this hour-long mix for LYL Radio I decided to explore songs that zero in on the range that (justifiably) make us the most anxious — it’s those imbued with feelings of lust, seduction, and longing, all put into words and melody. These are songs for the morning after.

Valentine’s Day, or any day we attach to imbibing in that wonderful feeling, really frames how our vulnerability drives our most “wanton” desires. So, what best way to present our attachment to that special other than by surrendering something of ourselves to them? With that in mind, I think the best, sexiest, songs are those that present our vulnerabilities as honestly as they are. I mean, how is someone supposed to be intimate with you, if they can’t get truly close to you?

“Touch me, lover.” “I live and die, in your name.” “I read your lips. I want your conversation.” “Surrender, don’t direct yourself. Just float, like a cloud, be so soft.” Those are some of the pointed words — all confessions (very little lost to translation) — asking us to give in by simply letting go. In the end, what’s the point of consummating anything, when the most pleasurable part comes in its foreplay?

Here’s an hour for those willing to take their time to get to whatever their there is.
