Mix 22. The Look Of Love

Call me a hopeless romantic but I love love songs. This is, what, my third mix about love? Perhaps it’s because I try to empathize with the sentiment. Perhaps because I love the feelings it wrings out of you. I’m just hopelessly in love with love songs. This mix tries to collect some current, not-so-current love songs that navigate all the hazy airs love ekes out of us. Longing, devotion, temptation, and surrendering, et al. including the all-encompassing loving.

My focus for this mix was on the vaporous soul we like to call the chanteuse. Erudite, smokey, whisper-voiced, and (seemingly) a bit distant, on her we like to pin the role of seductress, separating her from the object of her intention. On her, I place this mix of breathy, sophisticated, elegant songs displaying very leftfield takes on love (in honor of this Valentine’s Day season) that we’d truly understand better if we just listen a bit closer…

Just my way to stick seriously mature, multi-layered, sexy songs, from all corners of the world, together in a way that is a bit more open than you’re used to.

This one is for the lovers out there…
