Mix: 26. New Age East & West 1979-1993 (Guest Mix by Should Be Asleep)

If you’ve followed this blog you’re probably wondering: “Where the hell has he been?” Well, I’ve been taking a break to rediscover some of the music I’ve had little time to catch up on. You guys have to believe me that I take direction just as well as I look for new directions to take. In my latest episode of “Digging Deep” at LYL Radio I felt fortunate to let one of my favorite “influencers”, Glenn who runs the YouTube channel “Should Be Asleep”, take the reins and lead us wherever he’d felt like.

If ever you’ve subscribed to his channel, you’d currently find him wading through a lot of rare, Japanese New Age music. Witness on his channel his comb through Takashi Kokubo’s continuing work post-Get At The Wave in the ION Series, Hiroshi Yoshimura’s forward-thinking ambient music post-Green, Shi Zen’s quietly inspirational New Age roster, and so much more.

However, I believe his taste is vast and life only affords him enough time to share what he truly wants out there. When he takes his time to share something, it’s because a lot of thought/care went behind it. So, I welcomed him to take as long as needed to get this out there.

Guiding his own way, Glenn, came through with a mix covering two hemispheres: Eastern and Western New Age. A brilliant peak into his own rarefied collection, it gives you a starting point to some of the stuff we’ll slowly get to uncovering.
